Not all VA Community Living Centers provide all services, so contact your local VA medical center to find out. Your eligibility is based on clinical need and setting availability. The VA will provide Community Living Center care IF you meet certain eligibility criteria involving your service connected status, level of disability, and income. We offer Geriatric Patient Aligned Care Team services in about two-thirds of VA medical centers.
You qualify for hospice care if you have a terminal condition (a condition that can’t be treated), with less than 6 months to live, and you’re no longer seeking treatment other than to ease pain. Wilmington-based Liberty Healthcare offered to run the facilities for a bid of 8.15 percent of revenue budget for running the four state veterans nursing homes. Those evaluating the bids gave a mixed review to Liberty as potential managers of the four existing veterans homes, with another in Raleigh projected to come online in 2024. Another home has been planned for Kernersville but is not mentioned in letters detailing the contract with Pruitt.
